Japanese Event in Ottawa, Canada - Tetchan’s Wonder Train

Do you have children around 6 to 8 years old?
Do they like imaginative interactive performance?

There is a good one for them at the Alcatel Ottawa International Children’s Festival. It is called Tetchan’s Wonder Train.

What is Tetchan’s Wonder Train about?

Tetchan is a little boy who likes to play with his favourite train toy. One day he accidentally falls into a hole and entry into the Wonder World. Performers will interact with children in the audience and use their suggestions to develop the story. During this 60-minute show, children will talk and dance with Tetchan in English and experience his adventure together.

Who are the performers?

Japanese performers Yasue Omori and Midori Nobusaka of the Kazenoko Theatre Company are the finest theatre creators for young audiences. They toured Canada in 1979 and their performances received a great reputation for children’s theatre bridging language barriers.

Why Tetchan’s Wonder Train was created?

According to director of Tetchan’s Wonder Train, Yasue Omori, “Children may find it difficult to develop their real kindness, courage, cheerfulness, and rich expression without feeling security, trust, and self-confidence. This show gives children an opportunity to create a trusting relationship with performers by playing together. They’ll be able to go back to their own world with a little bit more confidence. I made this show hoping to encourage children to be more cheerful with a smile. “
